OVERSTREET, Sherry -- Sherry OVERSTREET, 70, of Keosauqua, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Arbor Spring Care Center in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

OVERSTREET, Sherry J. HORNBAKER -- Sherry J. HORNBAKER OVERSTREET, 70, of Keosauqua, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Arbor Spring Care Center in West Des Moines.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery, southwest of Bonaparte.

Open visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, followed by visitation with the family from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 20061 215th St., Keosauqua 52556. A memorial will be designated at a later time.

Mrs. OVERSTREET was born June 11, 1938, in Keosauqua, the daughter of R. Eugene and LaVon KOONTS HANNAM. She married K. Dean HORNBAKER March 4, 1956, in Farmington. He died March 15, 1980. She married R. Eugene "Potter" OVERSTREET Jan. 9, 1982, in Farmington. He died Dec. 16, 2004.

Mrs. OVERSTREET graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1956. She lived most of her life in Van Buren County, but had also lived in Chicago and West Des Moines. She was a medical and physical therapy assistant and hospice volunteer.

She was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, where she had been a council member. She had been a eucharistic minister at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in West Des Moines. She had been a member of Van Buren County Red Hat Society and the Bonaparte Chapter of TTT.

Survivors include her mother of Keosauqua; one son, Michael HORNBAKER of Rockwall, Texas; three daughters, Lea KELLER of Cumming, Ga., Mary BENTON of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Julie MALLOY of West Des Moines; three stepsons, R. Jay and Robert OVERSTREET, both of Bloomfield, and Rodney OVERSTREET of Albia; one stepdaughter, Rhonda NORTHUP of Bloomfield; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria BREKENRIDGE and Twyla PEACOCK, both of Keosauqua; three brothers, Richard HANNAM of Tampa, Fla., Bernard HANNAM of Newport Beach, Calif., and Jerry HANNAM of Port Angeles, Wash.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her father; one infant brother; and one stepson, Rollie OVERSTREET.
