YEOMAN, Emma G. CHEZUM -- Emma G. CHEZUM, age 89, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, IA.

Visitation will be held 1:30 to 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Fairfield Friends Church (1209 S. 6th Street) in Fairfield. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:30 PM with Pastor Dave Elmore officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Cards of sympathy to the family or memorials to the Parkview Activity Fund or Alzheimer's Research may be sent c/o: 908 S. 7th Street, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Emma Grace CHEZUM YEOMAN was born Feb. 9, 1919 in Fairfield, IA to Glen S. and Minnie Grace (ARNOLD) CHEZUM. She attended Fairfield schools and was united in marriage with Verne Delbert YEOMAN in Washington, IA on February 21, 1936. He preceded her in death March 24, 1975.

Emma owned and operated Yeoman's Taxi, and was employed by Nelson's Nursing Home, Parkview, Bethany House and retired from Wal-Mart after 18 years. She attended the Free Methodist Church and Fairfield Friends Church.

She is survived by her children and their families: Delbert YEOMAN and wife Sharyn of Fairfield, and Velma Grace LYONS, also of Fairfield. Emma was blessed with four grandchildren: Charles YEOMAN, Jodie LYONS, Brenda DAVIS, and Russell LYONS; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sisters and one brother: Ruth & Merle SCHNEIDER of Fairfield, Betty & Roy MOWERY of Rock Island, IL, and John & LaQuita CHEZUM of Viola, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Larry LYONS, three sisters and three brothers: Wanda, Ethel, Mable, Harry, Ralph and Don.
