REED, Oda -- Oda REED, 82, of Fairfield and formerly of Ollie, died at home Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009.

A rosary followed by a Scripture service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Visitation will follow the Scripture service.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Steven Page and the Rev. Richard Adam officiating. Interment will be at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery at Clear Creek.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospital or to the new Catholic church.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mrs. REED was born July 30, 1926, on the family farm near Harper, the daughter of Peter J. and Pearl SONDAG ADAM. She married Eugene REED Nov. 6, 1945, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper.

Mrs. REED worked all her life as a nurses' aide, starting at the Keokuk County Hospital and Manor House. Later in her career, she worked in central supply at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Her last job was as an aide in sterilization and the surgical unit at the Jefferson County Hospital until May 2008.

Survivors include her husband; seven children, Tom REED and wife Linda of Athens, Ga., Dick REED and wife Kathy of Hedrick, Deborah HAMMES and husband Jack of Richland, Becky GREINER and husband Steve of Richland, Tena ADAM and husband Nick of Batavia, Mary Jo CLINGAN and husband Roger of Batavia and Harry REED and wife Annette of Riverside; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edith WARWICK of Delta, Verda SIEREN of Keota and Verena SNAKENBURG of Sigourney; and one brother, Harry Joe ADAM of Columbus Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, three brothers and four sisters.
