MANCHESTER, Dean R. -- Dean R. MANCHESTER, 76, of rural Douds, died at 4:22 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield as the result of a stroke.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery in rural Libertyville.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 3-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later time may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 12723 Route V-64, Douds 52551.

Mr. MANCHESTER was born July 10, 1932, in Loup City, Neb., the son of Orrin and Emma BLAUHORN MANCHESTER. He married Geraldine BILLINGSLEY Feb. 9, 1952, in Ottumwa.

Mr. MANCHESTER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1949. He lived most of his life in Jefferson and Van Buren counties. He was a lifelong farmer and was an auto salesman for a series of dealerships. He retired from Fesler Auto Mall in 2006. He also had been a terminal manager for Watson Brothers Trucking Company in Fairfield and Cheyenne, Wyo.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda BRADFIELD and husband Jerry of Memphis, Mo., and Kelly GRAY and husband James of Fairfield; one son, William MANCHESTER and wife Brenda of rural Douds; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Millie CREEK of Fairfield; and one brother, Dale MANCHESTER of Bella Vista, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert MANCHESTER; and one brother, Harold MANCHESTER.
