HARRYMAN, Marilyn J. -- Marilyn J. HARRYMAN, 65, of rural Douds died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

The body has been cremated.

Arrangements for a memorial service at a later date are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

HARRYMAN, Marilyn Jean BURNS -- Marilyn Jean BURNS HARRYMAN, 65, of rural Douds, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Davis County Hospital hospice room.

A joint memorial service for her and her husband will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Interment will be in Leando Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials to Christ United Methodist Church in Douds or the Davis County Hospital hospice room may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 27807 Urus Ave., Pulaski 52584.

Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mrs. HARRYMAN was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Bernard and Edith WILSON BURNS. She married Merlin HARRYMAN April 18, 1965, at Milton Grace United Methodist Church.

Mrs. HARRYMAN completed her eighth grade education at Pleasant Knoll country school near Pulaski. She attended Pulaski High School for three years and then graduated from Davis County Community High School in Bloomfield. Mrs. HARRYMAN graduated from Iowa State University, where she majored in home economics education and minored in general science, in 1965. She and her husband lived on the Harryman Century Farm in rural Douds. She taught at Fox Valley High School in Milton and later Van Buren Community High School in Keosauqua. She retired after 33 years of teaching.

Mrs. HARRYMAN was listed in "Who's Who of American Teachers" twice. She was a member of PEO Chapter AD in Milton and Delta Kappa Gamma. She also was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds.

She enjoyed hosting meals, sewing, reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.

Survivors include two brothers, William of Morris, Ill., and David of Pulaski; and one sister, Bonnie KERNS of Las Cruces, N.M.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
