CARLSON, Vincent Cyrus -- Vincent Cyrus CARLSON, 87, formerly of Lockridge, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Interment will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. CARLSON was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Lockridge, the son of Walter and Nellie HILL CARLSON. He married Virginia Faye GARLICK in 1942.

Mr. CARLSON attended school in Lockridge. He lived his entire married life in the Cedar County area near and in Tipton. He was employed as a carpenter until his retirement. After his retirement, he spent several hours in his garage designing and making wooden lawn ornaments.

Mr. CARLSON served in the United States Army in the South Pacific for three years.

He was a lifetime member of Carpenters Union Local 1260 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Charles CARLSON and wife Linda of Tipton, Linda HILLYER and husband Don of Tipton, Carl CARLSON of Odell, Ill., and Becky SEVERIN and husband Stan of Lowden; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Norris CARLSON of Lockridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Walter CARLSON.
