EDMUND, Lewis V. 'Park' -- Lewis V. "Park" EDMUND, 93, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden Lutheran Chapel Cemetery, north of Lockridge.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Cards of sympathy and memorials to First Baptist Church, the New Sweden Cemetery maintenance fund or to a charity of the donor's choice may be sent to 2902 W. Adams St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. EDMUND was born June 23, 1915, at Four Corners, Jefferson County, the son of Amos D. and Minnie O'DEAN EDMUND. He married Mildred I. THATCHER June 23, 1942, in Kalona.

Mr. EDMUND grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Lockridge High School in 1933. In his early life, he worked as an auto mechanic and at H&A Factory in Fairfield. He then worked in the carpenter trade, building houses for approximately 25 years. He later worked for the USHUD program prior to his retirement. Upon his retirement, he established his own saw filing business.

He served on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfield, Fairfield Lions Club and The Keep Young Club.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Mark R. EDMUND and wife Kay of Polk City; three grandchildren; one sister, Louise EGGER of Moline, Ill.; and one brother, Richard A. EDMUND of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rudolph EDMUND; and two sisters, Bernice CAVE and Elizabeth PETERSON.
