KUENSTER, Jim -- Jim KUENSTER, 56, of Brighton died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at his home in Brighton following a long illness.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chase and Jamie MASCHMANN's home, 30980 323rd Avenue, north of Richland. Mr. KUENSTER was accorded cremation, and his remains will be buried at a later date.

A general memorial has been established and may be sent to the family at PO Box 101 Brighton, 52540.

Gould Funeral Home of Brighton has been assisting with arrangements.

Mr. KUENSTER was born March 19, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Darrell J. and Patricia A. RUTHERFORD KUENSTER. He married Margaret Ann 'Peg' DICKINSON Dec. 14, 1979, in Kahoka, Mo.

He grew up in Iowa City, graduated from Regina High School in 1968 and from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids in 1992 with a degree in Human Services. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp, worked as a foreman on a pipeline laying crew in Iowa City, later managed an adult rehabilitation center in Iowa City and was market master of the Iowa City Farmers Market for two years.

He was a member of the National Trappers Association and the North American Fishing Club.

Mr. KUENSTER lived most of his life in Iowa City before moving to Brighton in 2001.

Survivors include his wife Peg; two daughters, Jamie MASCHMANN and husband Chase of Richland, and Wendy KUENSTER of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three sons, Steve CROSSETT and wife Diane of Iowa City, Jason KUENSTER of Iowa City and Jeremy KUENSTER of Kalona; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Rodney KUENSTER of Iowa City, Jeff KUENSTER of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Alvin KUENSTER of Las Vegas, Nev; and one sister, Theresa JAY of Boone.

His parents and stepparents, Merle and Eleanor DICKINSON, preceded him in death.
