McCLARAN, Jennessee -- Jennessee McCLARAN, 87, formerly of Birmingham died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

A luncheon with the family will follow interment at the Birmingham Lion's Building in Birmingham.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Cards and memorials to the Good Samaritan Activity Fund may be sent to 19429-240th St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. McCLARAN was born March 21, 1921, the daughter of Ira and Kathryn HOLMES JAMESON in Winchester. She married Robert Paul McCLARAN Dec. 9, 1939. He died April 22, 1983.

Mrs. McCLARAN was a life long resident of the Jefferson and Van Buren counties, with her last year in Keosauqua. She and her husband owned and operated the Birmingham Cafe for 15 years. She had worked for Fairfield Laundry, been a janitor for Fairfield Line, and worked for the Iowa Army Ordinance Plant.

Mrs. McCLARAN was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include five children and their famlies (sic): Carolyn BALMER and husband Lloyd of Keosauqua, Robert E. McCLARAN and wife Judy of Birmingham, Dolores WATSON and husband Jerry of Lockridge, Jerald McCLARAN and wife Gail of Fairfield and Joyce MEADE of Richland; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Jane CAMPBELL of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one great grandson.
