LEGISLATOR'S MOTHER DIES NEAR FARSON.
Mrs. Margaret May SMITH, 77, of s.e. of Farson, died unexpectedly Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at her home. She was the mother of Congressman Neal SMITH. Daughter of Warren and Margaret PECK WALLING, born Dec. 1, 1886, at Glenwood; married James N. SMITH Nov. 21, 1911, at Clarinda. He survives. Survivors also include two sons, Kenneth of Aberdeen, Washington, and Congressman Neal SMITH of Washington, D.C., a daughter, Mrs. Mildred ANDERSON of Des Moines; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Dora JOHNSON of California. Fremont Funeral Chapel. She was a member of the Clarinda Christian Church and grad. Glenwood HS. She had resided in the Hedrick community 14 years.
