Ed NELSON Dies At 78

Ed E. NELSON, 78, 1101 S. Fifth St., died at 2:40 today at the Jefferson County Hospital. He had been seriously ill for three weeks.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Berg officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Raymond Funeral Home to the church at noon Wednesday.

NELSON was a retired farmer and a member of the First Lutheran Church. He was born Oct. 4, 1895 in North Henderson, Ill., the son of Charles and Carrie WICK NELSON.

NELSON was reared and educated in Jefferson County. He was married to Alma JOHNSON Oct. 18, 1916.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Leland of Dallas, Tex., and Ernest of Packwood; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Gladys MOZENA, Marion; Mrs. Elsie THOMPSON, Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Albert, Fairfield, and Arthur, Newton; a half brother, Roy, Hayfield, Minn.; and a half sister, Mrs. Mabel SODERGREN, Dixon, Ill.

NELSON was preceded in death by one daughter, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, one half sister and two half brothers.
