PACKWOOD. Charles W. "Pete" NELSON died today at Ottumwa Hospital. Raymond Funeral Home. Burial in Packwood Cemetery. Born July 6, 1908, in Packwood, son of S.H. and Ada JOHNSON NELSON. Reared and educated in the Packwood Community and attended Parsons College and University of Iowa. Married Marie MILLS Nov. 27, 1930, at Washington. Member Packwood United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 104, etc.... Served as Republican senator from Jefferson and Van Buren Counties from 1953 to 1957.... Jefferson County Board of Supervisors four years from 1966. Also operated a hatchery in Packwood for 30 years, and at the time of his death was owner and operator of "Small Town Antiques" in Packwood. Survivors include widow; one daughter, Mrs. Keith FAWCETT, Green Bay, Wis.; his twin sister, Mrs. Louise NEECE, Webster City; one brother Harlan NELSON, Birmingham; and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.
