Miss Orissa LYON, 76, former Jefferson County Superintendent of Schools, died today at Ottumwa Manor in Ottumwa. Behner Funeral Home. Born Apr. 12, 1892, near Packwood, daughter of D. Newton and Frances NEFF LYON. She retired Aug. 1, 1957, after serving as county superintendent for 21 years. During her tenure, the county's rural elementary system numbered more than 50 schools. Made her home at 1103 E. Broadway. Survived by several cousins. One brother preceded her in death.

Miss Orissa LYON to be buried at Packwood. Spent entire life in this county with the exception of one year at Hayes, Kan., where she was a member of the faculty of Kansas State Teachers College. Held teaching positions in rural Jefferson County, Packwood and Winfield before becoming County Superintendent.... She was a member of the DAR and DAC.
