ROBERTS, Marion W. 'Red' -- Marion W. 'Red" ROBERTS, 94, formerly of Milton, died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, in the Davis County Hospital long-term care unit in Bloomfield.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Milton Christian Church, with the Rev. Justin DeVries officiating, followed by Masonic rites by Celestial Lodge No. 413. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Open visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will be present from 3-4 p.m.

Memorials to Heartland Humane Society may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 4114 Vista Place, Pasco, WA 99301.

Mr. ROBERTS was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Liberty, Neb., the son of James and Sarah Jane GROVES ROBERTS. He married Dorothy NICHOLS March 2, 1937, in Ottumwa.

Mr. ROBERTS graduated from Milton High School, where he was quarterback of the football team. He and his wife lived for a time in Lockridge, where he worked in a lumberyard. The couple then moved to Milton, where Mr. ROBERTS was a manager of Wormhoudt Lumber Co., which later became Denniston & Partridge Co. He was manager of the Milton yard for 40 years. He had resided at the Davis County Hospital long-term care unit since August 2006.

Mr. ROBERTS was a longtime member of Milton Christian Church and served on its board for many years. He served as secretary of the Milton School Board for many years and was a member of Milton City Council. He was involved in the former Aurora Masonic Lodge of Milton and was a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Celestial Lodge No. 413 in Douds. He also was a member of the American Humane Society.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Deborah DICKMAN and husband James of Pasco, Wash.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James L. ROBERTS and Larry ROBERTS in infancy; one infant daughter, Mona ROBERTS; two sisters, Catherine WEIR MILLER and Margaret AESCHLIMAN; and one brother, Charles "Pedro" ROBERTS.
