BROWN, Helen Louise -- Helen Louise BROWN, 92, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeff McPheron officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the memorial chapel.

Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mrs. BROWN was born July 18, 1916, in Washington County, the daughter of Joseph William and Iva Ann WALLACE MARTIN. She married Leonard BROWN Feb. 18, 1939, in Washington, Iowa.

Mrs. BROWN received her education from the Washington school system. She was a farm wife for 36 years near Glasgow. In 1975, she and her husband moved to Mount Pleasant. Following the death of her husband in 2005, Mrs. BROWN moved to Dallas Center to be near her children.

She was a member of Glasgow Methodist Church.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, embroidering and gardening.

Survivors include one daughter, Doris SHELLABARGER and husband Burton of Woodward; two sons, William Wayne BROWN and wife Betty of Des Moines and Wendell BROWN of Plant City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth CARR and Bessie ROBBINS, both of Washington, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean DUNBAR and Florence JACKSON; and two brothers, Floyd MARTIN and Earl MARTIN.
