Steven Jay STEINBECK passed away October 20th, 2008 at the age of 59 in Union, Missouri. He was the son of Carroll and Evelyn (BURTON) STEINBECK.
Steve was born February 25th, 1949 in Washington, Iowa and grew up in Rubio with brother Jim and cousins Karen, Kristen, and Kortney STEINBECK daughters of Aunt and Uncle Kenneth and Margaret STEINBECK. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1967 and from what is now Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri in 1972. He was united in marriage to Valorie AHLBOM in 1970 at Macon, Missouri.
Steve taught school and coached in Hedrick, Iowa and Sullivan, Missouri. He moved to Union, Missouri in 1977 and worked at Hall Brothers Lumber Company from 1978 to 1987. He was currently employed as a supervisor for Ameren Union Electric for the Labadie Electrical Plant.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 22nd and funeral services were October 23rd at the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union with the Revered (sic) Jay Tilson officiating. Memorials can be made to the Union R-XI School District Athletic and Band programs. Address is Union R-XI School District, PO Box 440 Union, Mo 63084. Steve is survived by his wife Valorie of Union and two sons, Aric and wife Dawn of Highland, Illinois and Lucas and wife Davina of St. Louis, Missouri. Also, by his father Carroll STEINBECK and friend Kay CLARRIDGE of Rubio, one brother Jim of Fairfield, Iowa, and one sister-in-law Ginny BRITTINGHAM of Union, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn STEINBECK.
