BROWNING, Steven -- Steven J. BROWNING, 47, of rural Batavia, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

BROWNING, Steven J. -- Steven J. BROWNING, 47, of Batavia, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at home in rural Batavia.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, with the Rev. Michael Renken and the Rev. Bill Morehouse officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the family present from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 1553 200th St., Batavia 52533.

Mr. BROWNING was born Sept. 14, 1961, in Des Moines, the son of Clark HUSSMAN and Mae FIELD HUSSMAN.

Mr. BROWNING grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. As a young man, he helped in the family grocery store in Nevis, Minn. He worked as a crew foreman assembling steel buildings for Carl A. Nelson Construction Co. of Burlington for five years and as project manager for Schauss-Vorhies Contracting Co. of Fairfield for 12 years.

Mr. BROWNING was a member of Ironworkers Union Local 21 of Omaha, Neb.

He was a dirt bike flat track racer, hunter and outdoorsman, enjoying camping, boating, snowmobiling and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Leola ROMINE; one son, John BROWNING of Bismarck, N.D.; three daughters, Tana BROWNING of Bismarck, N.D., Jennifer ROMINE of Des Moines and Leah BROWNING of Batavia; three grandchildren; his mother, Mae BROWNING of Des Moines; one sister, Terry RAGAN of Des Moines; one brother, Don BROWNING of Des Moines; and his stepfather, Jim BROWNING of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clark HUSSMAN.
