BAILEY, Hope Victoria -- Hope Victoria BAILEY, 85, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Lockridge, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
A funeral will be at 2:45 p.m. Friday at New Sweden Lutheran Chapel in rural Lockridge, with the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will be present from 12:30-2 p.m.
Mrs. BAILEY was born June 7, 1923, on the family farm north of Four Corners, rural Lockridge, the daughter of Oscar Fredrick and Emma Patience HUESTON LILLYBLADE. She married Samuel Thomas BAILEY.
Mrs. BAILEY graduated from Lockridge High School. During World War II, she worked with her sisters at the Ford Motor Company in Detroit. She returned to Iowa to work for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and later for the Shaeffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, where she met her husband. The couple moved to the Chicago area. For many years, Mrs. BAILEY worked in the plastics molding division of the production line of the Sunbeam Appliance Corporation in Cicero, Ill. Upon retiring in 1986, she and her husband moved to Mobile, Ala., and spent their summers in Malden, Ill., to be near family. They moved to Paducah a little more than a year ago.
Mrs. BAILEY loved writing to her sisters and family gatherings. She also enjoyed religious programming on television.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kevin BAILEY and wife Mary of Orland Park, Ill., and David BAILEY of Paragould, Ark.; two daughters, Debra BAILEY of Paducah and Diane PETKUNAS and husband Ron of Oswego, Ill.; one sister, Anna May PIATT of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her parents; two sons, Gary and Jack BAILEY; and three sisters, Rosellen PETERS, Edith WIGGINS and Faith LILLYBLADE, preceded her in death.
