HAMBURG, Mary Bess STANDLEY -- Mary Bess STANDLEY HAMBURG, 87, of Davenport, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Genesis West Medical Center.

A funeral was held Oct. 8 at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Davenport.

Mrs. HAMBURG was born April 19, 1921, in Van Buren County, the daughter of William and Mabel TRUEBLOOD STANDLEY. She married Buford HAMBURG Feb. 28, 1940, in Davenport. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. HAMBURG graduated from Stockport High School in 1938. She worked more than 20 years at Schlegel's Rexall Drug Company and at various places until her retirement.

Mrs. HAMBURG was a member of Red Hat Society, Putnam Museum Guild and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Davenport.

Survivors include one son, Keith HAMBURG and wife Donna of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Carolyn FRERICHS and husband John of Huntsville, Ark., and Kathryn HOFF of Rudolph, Ohio; one brother, Wilbur STANDLEY of Azusa, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Harold, Lester, Lloyd and George.
