WORKMAN, R. A. -- R. A. WORKMAN, 93, of Stockport, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. John Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport, with military rites by American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials to Workman Lodge or Elvin E. Cecil Post may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 18289 Highway 1, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. WORKMAN was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Stockport, the son of Richard A. and Emma BREWER WORKMAN. He married Arlene ROBERTS Dec. 15, 1946. She died Sept. 14, 1997.

Mr. WORKMAN lived his entire life in Stockport. He graduated from Stockport High School. He farmed, drove a grain truck for his father's elevator and worked 41 years as a welder in the Stockport blacksmith shop.

Mr. WORKMAN served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. WORKMAN was a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Workman Lodge No. 634, which was named for his grandfather, and Elvin E. Cecil Post, both in Stockport.

Survivors include one son, Richard WORKMAN and wife Karen of Keosauqua; two granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale WORKMAN; and twin sisters in infancy.
