STEELE, Herman 'Dale' -- Hermal 'Dale' STEELE, age 75 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Respects may be paid to the family Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 13, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Interment will follow in Glasgow Cemetery.

A memorial has been established. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers. Cards and memorials may be sent c/o: 2307 Hwy 34 E, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Herman 'Dale' STEELE was born May 2, 1933 to Rex and Lydia (ZEIGLER) STEELE. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Dale was united in marriage with Margaret LEAZER in Glasgow, IA on September 5, 1956.

Dale farmed and was employed as a machinist at American Chain & Cable. He was also employed at the McKay Envelope Company in Mt. Pleasant, IA from which he retired. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Surviving Dale is his wife of 52 years, Margaret of Fairfield, son Don STEELE and his wife Debi, and daughter-in-law Sandra STEELE DeHART, all of Fairfield. Dale was blessed with two grandchildren; Sandra STEELE and Nathan STEELE, and three step-grandchildren; Mike HARMON, Kyle HARMON, and Abby STICKELS, and one great-grandchild. Survivors include his sister, Arlene LYON of Birmingham, IA.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, son John STEELE, two brothers; John STEELE, Bob STEELE, and one sister, Venus LUZADDER.
