THOMAS, Clifford H. -- Clifford H. THOMAS, 84, of Fairfield, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairifeld, with the Rev. Dave Elmore officiating. Following Mr. THOMAS' wishes, his body will be cremated.

No family visitation is planned.

Mr. THOMAS was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Bentonsport, the son of Arthur and Mary SWIFT THOMAS. He married Josephine MESSER June 24, 1949, in Iowa City.

Mr. THOMAS was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He was employed for 20 years at the John Deere Plant in Moline, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Arthur THOMAS of Vinton; one grandchild; two sisters, Thelma DEGNER of Albert City and Helen ZOLLARS of Boone; and one brother, Dale MILLER of Cornersville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles THOMAS, Merle THOMAS and Henry THOMAS; and five half brothers, Harry THOMAS, Clarence THOMAS, Willis ERICKSON, Harrison JONES and Dorsey "Mike" THOMAS.
