NEIL, Claire 'Bill' -- Claire "Bill" NEIL, 74, of Batavia, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
Arrangements are pending at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia.

NEIL, Claire William 'Bill' -- Claire William "Bill" NEIL, 74, of Batavia, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice Inc. serving Wapello and Davis counties, Batavia Fire Department or Batavia United Methodist Church.
Mr. NEIL was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Rex and Mary SCHREINER NEIL. He married Pearl CURRAY June 5, 1953, at the Batavia United Methodist Church parsonage.
Mr. NEIL was raised and educated near Packwood, graduating from Packwood High School in 1951. He farmed in Jefferson County most of his adult life and also was employed by Iowa Malleable Iron Co. in Fairfield for 20 years.
He enjoyed going to auctions, visiting with friends and working with his antique cars and tractors.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Mark of Batavia; one daughter, Linda JONES and husband Craig of Denver, Colo.; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted NEIL of New Virginia, Iowa, and Charlie NEIL of Fairfield; and two sisters, Mary Virginia NEIL of Prescott, Ariz., and Florence NEIL of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
