PEEBLER, Jack -- Jack PEEBLER, 86, of Red Bluff, Calif., formerly of Libertyville, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at home in Red Bluff after a brief battle with lung cancer.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Veteran's Hall in Colfax, Calif. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Fell Cemetery in Libertyville. According to Mr. PEEBLER's wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial has been established to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1425 Vista Way, Red Bluff, CA 96080.

Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. PEEBLER was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Fairfield, the son of Ellis and Mae WATSON PEEBLER. He married Patricia BISHOP Feb. 15, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nev.

After graduating from Libertyville High School, Mr. PEEBLER moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he began working in the shipyards as a welder.

He enlisted in the armed services and served three years during World War II as a member of the Navy Seabees. He was stationed at numerous locations throughout the Pacific Theater.

In 1982, Mr. PEEBLER retired from United Air Lines after 30 years of services. While employed with United, Jack and his family lived in Oregon and Northern California.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dutch Flat, Calif., and also belonged to the Shriners and Scottish Rite, both in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis PEEBLER and wife Linda of Cottonwood, Calif.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandcildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
