CLINE, Velma Esther YEOMAN -- Velma Esther YEOMAN CLINE, 83, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Washington Care Center following a lengthy illness.

A celebration of live service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Washington, with the Rev. Jim Cluney officiating. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials have been established for Lending Hands or Hospice of Washington County.

Jones Eden Funeral Home is assisting with arrangments. Online condolences may be sent through the Web site www.jonesfh.com.

Mrs. CLINE was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Marion Wilson and Flora Belle ST. JOHN YEOMAN. She married Forest CLINE Sept. 3, 1944, in Fairfield. He died in 1997.

Mrs. CLINE attended school in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Toledo. She and her husband lived in Fairfield prior to moving to Washington County in the 1950s. Mrs. CLINE was a homemaker and worked four years at the Washington Hotel. In her later years, she assisted families with cleaning and other household chores.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Washington and was a participant at Lending Hands.

Mrs. CLINE enjoyed working with her hands: sewing, embroidering and doing latchwork. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her son Harold.

Survivors include five children, Flora May ZANGER of Washington, Iowa, Raymond CLINE and wife Diana of Washington, Iowa, Harold CLINE of Washington, Iowa, Rodger CLINE and wife Sue of Iowa City and Esther EVANS of Brighton; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; five brothers, Frank, Verne, Clifford, Homer and Harold YEOMAN; and two sisters, Vera GREGORY and Viva STRANGE.
