DOSHER, Frances Elizabeth -- Frances Elizabeth DOSHER, 91, of Salem, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Park Place in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Nathan C. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, rural Douds.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Crew Public Library Building Fund in Salem.

Mrs. DOSHER was born July 4, 1917, in Douds, the daughter of Edward and Alice CREEK DUKE. She married Clarence "Shorty" FARISS. The couple later divorced. She later married Hugh DOSHER. The couple later divorced.

Mrs. DOSHER attended rural country schools. For more than 20 years, she worked as a certified nurses aide at the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute. She retired in the 1970s.

Mrs. DOSHER was a member of the Republican Women.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing activities with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking, completing crossword and word-find puzzles and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph FARISS of Montrose and Herbert FARISS and wife Helen of Central Point, Ore.; one son-in-law, Mike MERTENS of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Her parents; one daughter, Shari MERTENS; three brothers, Gordon, Roscoe and Herbert DUKE; and four sisters, Velma BURR, Pauline DURFLINGER, Elsie STAGERS and Opal LOOMIS BROWN preceded Mrs. DOSHER in death.
