TUCKER, George -- George L. TUCKER, 86, of Fairfield, died Sunday morning, Sept. 7, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

TUCKER, George L. -- George L. TUCKER, age 88, a longtime resident of Fairfield, went to be with the Lord Sunday September 7, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Family visitation will be 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday September 9, 2008, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.
Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday September 10, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Paul R. Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Memorials can be made to National Diabetes Association. Cards and memorials may be sent c/o: 2263 Birch Avenue, Batavia, IA 52533.

George was born on May 24, 1920 in Jefferson County to George C. and Nina (LAWSON) TUCKER. On October 19, 1946 he was united in marriage to Alma Elizabeth LANG in Chicago IL.
George graduated from Fairfield High School. A Veteran of World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard including the North Atlantic and the Pacific. George worked for many years at the Iowa Malleable Iron Company before launching a successful career in insurance sales. After his retirement, he spent fourteen years as a resident of Russellville, AR, before returning to Fairfield in 2001.
He was a Christian and faithfully attended church throughout his life. He loved to travel and did so, extensively.
George leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Alma TUCKER of Fairfield, a brother Paul (Juanita) TUCKER of Duluth, MN, his son Thomas TUCKER of Richardson, TX; two daughters, Nancy (Gerald) PRATT of Batavia, IA, and Susan (Robert) WORLEY of O'Fallon, IL. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, his brother Robert and sister Barbara.
