BENNETT, Kenneth Dean -- Kenneth Dean BENNETT, 93, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away August 28, 2008 in his home.

The body has been cremated; graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Friends Cemetery in Richland, Iowa.

No family visitation is planned and memorials may be made to The Heartland Humane Society mailed to his nephew Rick BENNETT, 2332 Ash Av, Batavia, Iowa 52533.

Mr. BENNETT was born May 12, 1915 in Jefferson County, the son of Ray H. and Inez ESTES BENNETT.

Mr. BENNETT spent his childhood years growing up in the Packwood area then moving to Ottumwa, where he spent the rest of his life. He spent his early years with a companion, Edna FLINSPACH, who preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army.

Mr. BENNETT worked as a mechanic for Vaughn Motors for over 30 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Elks in Fairfield.

In his later years he met and spent his life with Marian BILLINGS who has preceded him in death. Surviving are her children, Mike and Susie BILLINGS, Wayne and Sandy BILLINGS, Gale and Barb WALLER, Paul and Jo BILLINGS; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers, Bernard, an infant brother and R. Keith of Fairfield preceded him in death.

Survivors include nephew Rick BENNETT of Batavia and sister-in-law Marie BENNETT of Fairfield.

Kenny's love of the river showed by the many years he spent at his cabin on the Des Moines River. This was his enjoyment and his pleasure in life.

Robertson-Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa in charge of arrangements.
