HEYVAERT, Mary Patricia -- Mary Patricia HEYVAERT, 82, of Guthrie, Okla., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, in Guthrie.

A funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Tabernacle in Guthrie. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salina Cemetery in Salina.

Family visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, 2118 West Oklahoma, Guthrie, OK 73044.

Local arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Online condolences may be sent via www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. HEYVAERT was born March 19, 1926, in Davenport, the daughter of Jelmer and Alma JOHNSON SANDELL. She married Robert A. HEYVAERT in April 1946 in Lockridge. He died in 1972.

Mrs. HEYVAERT grew up around the Fairfield area and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944. She attended nurse's training at the Lutheran Hospital in Moline, Ill., and did her clinicals in Chicago, Ill. She and her husband moved to Colorado, where four of her children were born, then back to Illinois and then to Iowa, where her last two children were born. She then moved to Guthrie in 1981 with three of her children. She was a retired homemaker.

Mrs. HEYVAERT was a member of Friends of the Guthrie Library, the Genealogy Society and Lighthouse Tabernacle Church.

She enjoyed books, reading, animals and quilting. She and her husband had been foster parents, and in the 1970s, she sponsored several Asian refugees.

Survivors include two sons, Danny HEYVAERT and wife Jone of Washington, Iowa, and Jon HEYVAERT and wife Tina of Guthrie; four daughters, Rachael LANE and husband Michael of Galesburg, Ill., Marna NICOLA of Davenport, Rosalee BALLENGER of Galesburg, Ill., and Lynnea HEYVAERT-GLASS and husband Jeff of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Marna NEWCOMB of Illinois; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings.
