ESHELMAN, Alva G. -- Alva G. ESHELMAN, 76, of Lockridge, died this morning, Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

ESHELMAN, Alva Gene -- Alva Gene ESHELMAN, 76, of Lockridge, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at New Sweden Methodist Church north of Lockridge, with the Rev. Diane Brokken officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery near Germanville.

Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials have been established to Lockridge Fire and Rescue and to the new dialysis unit at Jefferson County Health Center.

Mr. ESHELMAN was born May 25, 1932, in Germanville, the son of Roy James and Ila BURGER ESHELMAN. He married Margaret Ann VORHIES Feb. 5, 1956.

A lifelong resident of the Germanville-Lockridge community, Mr. ESHELMAN was a farmer and drove school bus for the Fairfield Community School District for 32 years. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School.

Mr. ESHELMAN served in the Korean War from 1953 until 1955.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church at Germanville.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patty GATES and husband Steve of Birmingham, Pam FRIEDEN of Mount Pleasant and Peggy BERGER and husband Jim of Smithville, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Lois WATSON of Wayland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
