NELSON, Ardith I. -- Ardith I. NELSON age 94, of Ollie passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, at the Packwood Christian Church with the family present from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 17, at the Packwood Christian Church with Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Interment will follow at the Packwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Packwood Christian Church or Wapello County Hospice.
Ardith NELSON was born May 22, 1914 in Ollie, Iowa the daughter of Glen & Luna HAINES BRADFIELD. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to Marion NELSON December 31, 1934. She was a farm wife and care giver for many years. Ardith was a member of the Packwood Christian Church. Her joys included her family especially her grandchildren, all types of flowers, gardening, quilting during the winter months, and her church. Ardith will be remembered most for the hard work and determination it took to maintain her flower garden.
Ardith is survived by a son, William Glen "Bud" and wife Dorothy NELSON of Mendon, Illinois, a daughter Susie CHAMBERS of Ottumwa, five grandchildren; Jimmy (Missy) NELSON of North Vernon, IN., Kenneth & Annie NELSON of Bardwtown, KY., Melinda JOHNSON of Bardstown, KY., Stefanie (Tyler) ROBERTS of Richland, IA., and Justin CHAMBERS of Pella, IA. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two infant grandchildren, Charles Wayne and Cynthia Lynn NELSON.
