WALKER, Richard W. -- Richard W. WALKER, 72, of Batavia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia.

WALKER, Richard W. -- Richard W. WALKER, 72, of Batavia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Batavia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Dvorak officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. and family visitation until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Batavia United Methodist Church.

Mr. WALKER was born July 11, 1935, in Henry County, the son of Otis and Dorothy RUDIGER WALKER. He married Barbara METZNER Jan. 21, 1969, in Germany.

Mr. WALKER was raised and educated in Batavia, graduating from Batavia High School in 1954. He was a barber for several years as a young adult and later worked at All American Termite and Pest Control in Fairfield for many years. He farmed in Wapello County all of his adult life.

He served in the United States Army following the Korean Conflict.

Mr. WALKER was a member of Batavia United Methodist Church and Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 198 of Batavia.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, June WALKER of San Diego, Calif.; and one sister, Janet PILCHER of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
