SWITZER, Warren Duncan -- Warren Duncan SWITZER, 88, of Fairfield, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at home.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Luder officiating. A private family burial will follow at Switzer Cemetery. Following Mr. SWITZER's wishes, cremation was accorded.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice of Central Iowa. Cards and memorials may be sent to 2396 Salina Road, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. SWITZER was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Fairfield, the son of Clarence David and Annie Elizabeth DUNCAN SWITZER. He married Mary Maxine JONES May 22, 1943, in Fairfield.

Mr. SWITZER farmed in Jefferson and Van Buren counties.

He was a member of first Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield and was a member of the Fairfield Clinton Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 15 for 50 years. He also was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 1927.

Survivors include his wife; five children, David W. SWITZER and wife Carole of Billings, Mont.; Maxine J. REED and husband Don of Plano, Texas, Kenneth E. SWITZER and wife Marilyn of Holton, Kan., Charlene L. MUNN of Rochelle, Ill., and Ronald W. SWITZER and wife Christy of Fairfield; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eloise ROGERS of Fairfield and Doris STUKENBURG of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Elaine SWITZER; one brother, Frank SWITZER; and one sister, Helen HIRD.
