NELSON, Robert Merle -- Robert Merle NELSON, 76, formerly of Van Buren County, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Ocoee, Fla.

A memorial service will be held in Iowa at a later date.

Mr. NELSON was born March 26, 1932, in Stockport, the son of Merle NELSON and Roberta JOHNSTON. He married Norma Ruth BROWN in 1950, and they divorced in 1973. He married Imogene BOONE in 1973. She died in 1987. He married Deannie McMAHAN in 1987.

Mr. NELSON graduated from Stockport High School in 1950. He and his first wife lived in Birmingham between 1950 and 1951, while Mr. NELSON worked as a welder in Keosauqua. In 1952, they moved to Burlington, where he worked as a switchman, assembler and draftsman, and from 1957-1969, they lived in Muscatine, where he worked as a draftsman. In 1969, they moved to Burlington, where Mr. NELSON worked as a designer/draftsman.

Mr. NELSON moved to Orlando, Fla., in 1982 and worked as a drafting supervisor until 1992. He worked the remainder of his life as a consulting draftsman.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas, Dennis and Joel and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ross and David.
