SWAIM, Mavern L. -- Mavern L. SWAIM, 90, of Batavia, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia.

SWAIM, Mavern L. -- Mavern L. SWAIM, 90, of Batavia, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Open visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present.

A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. SWAIM was born Aug. 2, 1917, near Agency, the daughter of Frank and Grace McBRIDE KLICKER. She married John SWAIM April 13, 1935, in Ottumwa. He died Sept. 29, 1969.

Mrs. SWAIM was raised and educated near Agency and had attended Agency High School. She lived most of her life in Wapello and Jefferson counties, where she was employed by Barker's Product Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include one son, Larry SWAIM and wife Nancy of Fairfield; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn ARMSTRONG of Bloomfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jack; her parents and stepmother, Gladia McBRIDE KLICKER; two brothers, Karl and Lawrence KLICKER; and two sisters, Dorothy COVERT and Mldred SWAIM BIER.
