GORDON, David Dwayne -- David Dwayne GORDON, 80, of Milton, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Elders Mark Dietrick and Mark Walker officiating. The body has been cremated.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials to Hospice of Wapello/Davis Counties may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 64, Milton 52570.
Mr. GORDON was born April 9, 1928, in Pershing, the son of Ed and Ruth ZIMMERMAN GORDON. He married Mary Ann WILLIAMS Sept. 29, 1946, in Lovilia.
Mr. GORDON grew up in Marion and Monroe Counties and was a coal miner. He had been a self-employed livestock trucker, worked on the grouting crew during the construction of Red Rock Dam and operated a road maintainer for Monroe and Story counties. He retired to Milton in 1990.
Mr. GORDON was an elder in the Regorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Restoration Branch in Ottumwa. He had served on school boards in Albia and Lovilia and on the city councils of Slater and Lovilia.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry GORDON and Larry GORDON and wife Becky, all of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Debra CEGLAR of Mitchellville and Patty KINT of Adel; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Darwin "Peanuts" GORDON of Lovilia and Jerry GORDON of Farmington, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eddie and Marvin GORDON; two sisters, Ruth LUCAS and Beverly WALKER; and one grandson.
