Donald H. HEWITT died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Donald Howard HEWITT

Donald Howard HEWITT, 85, of Fairfield, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Howard Innis officiating. Interment with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Open visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library in lieu of flowers.

Mr. HEWITT was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Denver. Colo., the son of William and Malissa THORN HEWITT. He married Estella Eiune GORE Aug. 31, 1952, in Fairfield. She died Nov. 2, 2004.

Mr. HEWITT was a United States Marine veteran of World War II.

He was employed by American Chain and Cable for 25 years and was a wholesaler of the U.S.A. Today Newspaper for 11 years.

Mr. HEWITT was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2271 in Fairfield.

Survivors include one son, Daniel HEWITT of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Susan; one brother; and one sister.
