DENNEY, Lawrence O. -- Lawrence O. DENNEY, 93, of Davenport, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Trinity at Terrace Park in Bettendorf.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mr. DENNEY was born in 1915, the son of Jesse E. and Eunice C. DENNEY. HE married Ida Marie JACK April 11, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She died Nov. 25, 1993.

Mr. DENNEY served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked at ALCOA for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

He was an avid bird watcher, and he enjoyed woodcarving.

Survivors include one daughter, Geraldone L. "Jeri" BORDEN and husband Bob of Davenport; two sons, Gary L. "Gus" DENNEY of Marietta, Ga., and Steve A. DENNEY of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence DENNEY of Fairfield and Robert E. DENNEY of Ellensboro, N.C.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Leatha G. WOLVERTON and one brother, Orville L. DENNEY.
