CLEMENTS, Ivan Ward -- Ivan Ward CLEMENTS, 80, of Fairfield, died Wednesday morning, April 9, 2008, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

CLEMENTS, Ivan Ward -- Ivan Ward CLEMENTS, age 80, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at his home. Following his wishes, his body will be cremated.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, April 18, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ with Pastor Suzanne Swahn officiating. A private inurnment will be held in Bethesda Cemetery east of Fairfield at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Central Iowa, the First Christian Church, or The McCreery Cancer Center of Ottumwa. Cards and memorials may be sent c/o: 1900 Quince Avenue, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Ivan Ward CLEMENTS was born in Jackson County, KS on July 30, 1927 to Ralph Ivan and Florence Nellie (NICHOLAS) CLEMENTS. HE was a 1945 graduate of Havensville High School, and a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. CLEMENTS was united in marriage with Patricia ARMSTRONG August 7, 1949. She passed away July of 1961. In September, 1963, he married Dolores PARKS in Holton, KS.

Ward began his career in farming. He also owned and operated a bulldozer as well as other heavy equipment in Kansas. After moving to Fairfield in 1965, he worked for MW/ANR Coastal Natural Gas. Upon retirement in 1983, he farmed for Don & Doug Johnson. He was known to be happiest in the time spent outdoors tending his large garden and numerous flower beds, watching birds and wildlife from his picture window, and visiting with his many friends and family. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ of Fairfield.

Surviving Mr. CLEMENTS are his wife, Dolores, of Fairfield, and his children and their families: Mick CLEMENTS and wife Sandra of Effort, PA; Janell HAMILTON and husband Mike of West Des Moines, IA; Brad CLEMENTS and wife Della of Wadsworth, OH; Joni JACKSON and husband Eric of Muscatine, IA; and Kathy CLEMENTS, wife of Rick, of Washington, IA. Mr. CLEMENTS was blessed with 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Survivors include siblings: Clinton CLEMENTS of Denver, CO, Rosa Lee BRENNAN of Lakewood, CO, Dale CLEMENTS of Holton, KS, Phyllis CLEMENTS of Denver, CO, and Sharon LANE of Holton, KS, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rick CLEMENTS, and his siblings: Harland CLEMENTS, Gary CLEMENTS, Grace STOTTS, Glenna JOHNSTONE, and Lorraine OATES.
