MINEART, Curtis P. -- Curtis P. MINEART, 75, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona following an extended illness.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Interment, with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29, will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, where the family will be present from 5-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established for the St. James Building Fund and Alzheimer's Association.

Mr. MINEART was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Henry W. and Carrie Grace LAMANSKY MINEART. He married Melva SCHNICKER Jan. 9, 1954, in Washington, Iowa.
Mr. MINEART graduated from Brighton High School in 1951. He spent 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. In 1962, he was named "serviceman of the year" by San Diego Chamber of Commerce. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1971.
Mr. MINEART was Washington County Auditor for 27 years and served on numerous state-related boards.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Optimists Club and Habitat for Humanity. He also was a 4-H leader.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Steve MINEART and wife Joyce of Oskaloosa, Gary MINEART and wife Janis of Decorah, Carrie DAGGETT and husband John of Fort Collins, Colo., Kevin MINEART and wife Jody of West Burlington and Doug MINEART of Springdale, Ark.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Dave MINEART of Norwalk, Harold MINEART of Washington, Iowa, and Leroy MINEART of Brighton; and one sister, Margaret ANDERSON of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Christine McCLINTIC and Evelyn GEVOCK; and five brothers, Sylvester, Raymond, John, Maurice and Maynard.
