BURTON, James C. -- James C. BURTON, 51, formerly of Brighton, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

BURTON, James C. -- James C. BURTON, 51, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, in Washington.

A funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the Rev. Clarence Anderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date following cremation.

Visitation with the family will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A memorial for the family has been established. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. BURTON was born May 25, 1957, in Elgin, Ill., the son of Jimmy Lee and Doris Marie POTTS BALLEW BURTON.

Mr. BURTON attended school in St. Charles, Ill., and lived in Springfield, Mo., Rock Island, Ill., and Brighton. He worked construction as a roofer until he became disabled.

Survivors include seven children, Billy SAMPLE of New Haven, Ind., Heather BRADFORD of Carpenterville, Ill. (sic - Carpentersville), Tasha BURTON of Des Moines, and James BURTON Jr., Ezra BURTON and Sara BURTON, all of Chandler, Texas, and Derek HILLER of Washington; four grandchildren; his mother of Texas; two sisters, Victoria TIZZARD of Canada and Cheryl BURTON of Decatur, Ill.; and two brothers, Burtlee BURTON of Chandler, Texas, and George BALLEW of Port Neeches, Texas.

His father preceded him in death.
