MARTIN, Janet Alice -- Janet Alice MARTIN, 83, of Fairfield, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be in Evergeen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1100 W. Grimes Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. MARTIN was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of William C. and Della Marie HENNING PRAEFKE. She married Don E. MARTIN Sr. Nov. 26, 1942, in Milwaukee.

Mrs. MARTIN lived in the Fairfield community since 1948. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. MARTIN was a member of First Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed dancing, collecting dolls and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Donald E. MARTIN Jr. and wife Jo Ann of Fairfield; one daughter, Mary Jean WAUGH and husband Dale of Stewartville, Minn.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra DeSMIT; five brothers, Donald, Lawrence, Elmer, Herb and Roy PRAEFKE; and one sister, Ethel WYMER.
