EAGLE, Katherine M. -- Katherine M. EAGLE, 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a short battle with cancer.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Richmond.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., and a prayer service will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a CDA Rosary.

Memorials have been established to St. James Catholic Church and the M.L. McCreedy Home.

Mrs. EAGLE was born April 29, 1916, near Keota, the daughter of Andrew and Katherine LAHR HENRY. She married Clement EAGLE May 30, 1939, at St. Joseph's Church in East Pleasant Plain. He died in 2006.

Mrs. EAGLE graduated from Pleasant Plain High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. Prior to her marriage, she taught in country schools for four years in Washington County. She and her husband farmed in Jefferson and Washington counties until moving to Washington in 1982. She worked at the Sears Store for 16 years and volunteered at Lending Hands for a number of years.

Mrs. EAGLE was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Altar and Rosary Society and D.C.C.W. She also was a member of Business and Professional Women and Pinochle 8 Club. She organized the prayer chain at St. James Church and was head of the monthly birthday coffees at the church.

Mrs. EAGLE enjoyed making quilts, embroidering and playing cards.

Survivors include six children, Mary PULIDO and husband Ed of Davenport, John EAGLE and wife Deanna of Ainsworth, Stephen EAGLE and wife Fran of Washington, Iowa, Susan HOLCOMB and husband Charles of Johnston, Paulette JONES and husband Everett of Bettendorf and Joe EAGLE and wife Jeane of Marion; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Clarence HENRY; and one sister, Beatrice KASKA.
