Mayme O. Helsel, 96, formerly of Keosauqua, died at 3 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Bloomfield Care Center.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mayme O. Helsel, 97, formerly of Milton and Keosauqua, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Bloomfield Care Center.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry
Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery east of Wayland.Open visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday and beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home where the family will be present from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to Center Cemetery and left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 146, Cantril 52542.
Mrs. Helsel was horn March 5, 1909, near Olds, the daughter of Sam and Exie Zing VanSyoc. She married Fred Snyder, who died in 1940. She later married Len Helsel. He died in 1972.
Mrs. Helsel lived in Henry, Van Buren and Davis counties, include many years on a farm north of
Milton and in Keosauqua. Mrs. Helsel was a Methodist.Survivors include one stepson, Harold "Bill" Helsel and wife June of Cantril; one stepdaughter, Pat Helsel of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Dale Snyder.
