HARPER, Nova Wesley Jr. -- Nova Wesley HARPER Jr., 72, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a short illness.

A service has been set for 2 p.m. Monday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Cluney officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present two hours prior to the service.

A general memorial in Mr. HARPER's name has been established at the funeral home.

Mr. HARPER was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Fairfield, the son of Nova Edward and Ethel HINES HARPER. He married Sheila Rae BRUDERS March 25, 1972, in Memphis, Mo.

Mr. HARPER was employed at Perfex for three years. He later painted and wallpapered.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Wesley M. HARPER of Tipton; three daughters, Sandra BENTS of Davenport, Ethel Rose FRIEBERG and husband Larry of Bettendorf and Pamula BUCK and husband Tom of Andover; five sisters, Janice NELSON of Bettendorf, Janit WAAGE of Davenport, Jane LUEDTKE of Davenport, Helen PINKERTON of St. Louis, Mo., and Judy MELLOTT of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chris; five brothers, Hubert, Lester, Wetsal, Lawrence and James; and three sisters, Mildred HITCHLOCK, Bessie ANGSTEAD and Velma ROUSH.
