WHITMORE, Frances M. -- Frances M. WHITMORE, 79, of La Quinta, Calif., formerly of Batavia, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at home.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. A private committal service will be at Batavia Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the family present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. WHITMORE was born July 11, 1928, in Fairfield, the daughter of Harold and Iva WEST SIX. She married Ralph WHITMORE July 15, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark. He died Aug. 25, 1995.

Mrs. WHITMORE was raised and educated in Batavia. After moving to California in 1955, she owned and operated a beauty salon for 30 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy BROWN of Palm Desert, Calif.; two sons, Larry of Eldon and Robert of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marcia BALL; one sister, Mary GRIFFIN; and one brother, Lloyd SIX.
