KROGMEIER, Gertrude E. -- Gertrude E. KROGMEIER, 83, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Arbor Court.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, where a rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Family visitation will follow the rosary service.

Memorials have been established to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Hospice of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be sent to www.olsonpowell.com .

Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. KROGMEIER was born Feb. 24, 1924, in West Point, the daughter of Alois C. and Anna E. DINGMAN FRAISE. She married Jerome G. KROGMEIER May 5, 1942, in St. Paul, Iowa. He died May 20, 2006.

Mrs. KROGMEIER received her education at the St. Paul School. She was employed at Sheaffer Pen Company in Mount Pleasant and also at Fort Madison Hospital. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm.

Mrs. KROGMEIER raised a large garden from which she canned much of the produce for her family. She also enjoyed making quilts.

Mrs. KROGMEIER was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and L.B.S. Club.

Survivors include six sons, Marvin KROGMEIER and wife Karen of Mount Pleasant, Melvin KROGMEIER and wife Beverly of Salem, Orville KROGMEIER and wife Tracy of West Point, Rodger KROGMEIER and wife Karen of Lockridge, Gregory KROGMEIER and wife Cindy of Mount Pleasant and Louis KROGMEIER and wife Rosie of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Monica KLOPFENSTEIN and husband Gene of Wayland; two brothers, Vic FRAISE of Mount Pleasant and Harold FRAISE of Danville; two sisters, Lucille MAYBERRY of Mount Pleasant and Marilyn MERCER of Burlington; 20 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Lou TOUSIGNANT; and one sister, Henrietta WESTFALL.
