NELSON, Leland E. -- Born March 3, 1918, to Ed and Alma NELSON in Packwood, IA. Passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 27 at the age of 89 after a long battle with Parkinsons. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by the Iowa State Police System from 1940 to 1950. Joined the research laboratory of Mobil Oil Corp. in 1950 and retired from Mobil in 1980 after 29 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Katherine, brother Ernest and an infant granddaughter. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Dollie, two daughters, Linda MARTIN (David) of Madison, WI, Judy OLSON (Jim) of Beaver Dam, WI, stepson, Bradley JOHNSON of Frisco, four grandchildren, Lori DINKLE, Madison, WI, Jodi ARNESON (Mark) of Culver City, CA, Stacia MARTIN and Graeme MARTIN of Madison, WI and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin DINKLE of Madison. He has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for 50 years, serving as a Deacon and Elder. At the time of his death he was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Plano. No local service is planned. Graveside services will be in the NELSON family plot in Packwood, IA at a later date.
