GONTERMAN, Darrell Andrew -- Darrel Andrew GONTERMAN, 22, of Kilbourn, died at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Friday near Stockport.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Ed. Parker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to Van Buren County Jaws of Life or Stockport Fire Department may be left at the funeral home or mailed to PO Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. GONTERMAN was born Aug. 8, 1985, in Fairfield, the son of Terry and Lori WELLS GONTERMAN.

Mr. GONTERMAN lived much of his life with his grandparents, Ralph and Betty GONTERMAN of Kilbourn. He had attended Van Buren High School in Keosauqua and was employed at Lisco Corporation in Fairfield.

His hobbies were art and music. He enjoyed fishing, playing video games and pool and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his father of Kilbourn; his mother and stepfather, Lori and Gean PHELPS of Colchester, Ill.; three brothers, Travis and Dustin GONTERMAN, both of Birmingham, and Terry WELLS of Fairfield; one sister, Denae WARD of Keosauqua; two stepbrothers, Robbie PHELPS of Colchester, Ill., and Michael PHELPS of Minnesota; and his grandparents, Ralph and Betty GONTERMAN of Kilbourn and Andy and Joyce REDDICK of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne WELLS.

One fatality reported from Friday accident

One of the four young men injured in a one-vehicle crash Friday on J16 and Quince Avenue in Van Buren County has passed away.

Twenty-two-year-old Darrell Andrew GONTERMAN of Kilbourn died at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua...

Also injured in Friday's accident were 22-year-old Roger Brandon Anderson, 21-year-old Harley David Cook and 21-year-old Joseph Michael Heckethorn, all of Fairfield.

According to the Iowa State Patrol's minimal crash report, .... the investigation is continuing. No further information was available this morning.
