CROSBY, Chester F. -- Chester F. CROSBY, 74, of Pleasant Plain, died early today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Washington Care Center in Washington.
Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

CROSBY, Chester -- Chester CROSBY, 74, of Pleasant Plain, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Washington Care Center in Washington.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Plain Friends Church, with the Rev. Stan Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
A memorial has been established to Brighton Volunteer First Responders.
Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
Mr. CROSBY was born in South Sioux City, Neb., the son of Franklin and Alice HANSON CROSBY. He married Janet HANSHAW July 13, 1963, in Brighton.
Mr. CROSBY grew up at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home in Davenport. He worked at Nesbit Bottling Co. and Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Davenport, J.B. Plastics in Fairfield and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. He retired in 1975 due to poor health. He had lived in Pleasant Plain for 45 years.
Mr. CROSBY was a member of First Church of God in Brighton.
Survivors include his wife; one brother, Verne CROSBY of Davenport; two half brothers, Jay ELGERT of Palo, Mo., and Francis ELGERT of South Sioux City, Neb.; three half sisters, Esther CHEROUS of Omaha, Neb., Meta MARTIN of California and Sandra FLOCK of Bellevue, Neb.
His parents preceded him in death.
